Born in Solihull, Peter began his training with church choirs at an early age. He is soon to complete his Post-Graduate Diploma in singing with Adrian Clarke at the Birmingham Conservatoire, having previously achieved a BSc in Environmental Geosciences at Sheffield University. Whilst at Sheffield, Peter was choral scholar at St. John’s Church, Ranmoor, and for two years was Chairman of the University Singers’ Society. He formed and conducted Socci Cantorum, the Society’s chamber choir, in 2001, and takes up the position of Musical Director of the main chorus in September 2003.
He currently sings with the Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir under Jeffrey Skidmore and Paul Spicer, and has occasionally sung with Ex-Cathedra. Peter runs a private vocal teaching practice from his home in Solihull.
Recent solo performances include Haydn’s Harmoniemesse, Faure’s Requiem and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols. In opera he has performed the role of Aeneas in Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”, and created the role of Georges Bracque in Slater’s “Violin and Pear in Line”. He has also appeared as the Badger in Janacek’s “The Cunning Little Vixen”. As a founder member of vocal quartet “4-4Voices”, Peter provides Opera Gala nights to theatres and for corporate events. He also has a great love of Lieder and Art Song and regularly performs recitals in and around Sheffield.
